Among the many branches of the Allied Health Sciences, B.Sc Respiratory Therapy is a 3 + 1-year degree course offered across the nation. In India, the course has been designed to train and produce qualified professionals who are able to assist specialists in treating various respiratory-based and cardiopulmonary diseases and disorders. The objective of the course is to train the graduates in the methodologies and processes of analysing, treating and to a certain extent carrying out diagnostic checks.

As per guidelines, the four-year B.Sc Respiratory Therapy course requires each candidate to partake in a one-year internship in the field. The internship will provide the necessary basis to understand the methods of approaching different situations and tackling different challenges in different ways. B.Sc Respiratory Therapy Admission Process

The 4-year allied health science course, B.Sc Respiratory Therapy admissions would either be conducted on the basis of merit or on the scores obtained in an entrance test. Depending on the admission policy of the college offering the course, candidates will have to fulfil all requirements if they wish to pursue the course.

Some colleges offering B.Sc Respiratory Therapy courses will take admissions based on the merit of the applicant. Here, the scores obtained by the applicant in the qualifying exam, i.e, their class 12 board exam scores in Physics, Chemistry and Biology along with a fourth subject as per the requirements of the college, will determine the merit of the student for the course.

Meanwhile, many universities conduct a common entrance exam for all courses or in whichever manner their admission policy dictates. In these universities and colleges, candidates will be offered admissions on the basis of their performance in the qualifying exam.
